While working on a story in Sudan I found myself using my iPhone much more than my professional camera for personal snapshots. Mainly because it is easy, discrete, and has a deep depth of field. These are Instagram snapshots of observations and daily life in the Sudanese capital over a week in early January 2014.
During this trip I was constantly reminded that Khartoum hasn't changed much. Even with the separation of South Sudan the capital looked almost exactly the same as 6 years ago. This contrasts dramatically with the revolutionary changes I have watched in the rest of the Middle East for the last 3 years.
