Seven died in clashes between supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsi and police on Monday night, local media reported citing the Ministry of Health.

Clashes were concentrated on the Six October Bridge near Tahrir Square, Ramses Square, Nahda Square and the Bahr al-Aazam area. Morsi's supporters had organized wide scale marches Monday evening to demand the return of the deposed president and denounce the military who ousted the Brotherhood president on 3 July following mass protests demanding his resignation.

Hundreds were injured in the clashes.

For the most part, police clashed with protesters and fired tear gas, although in a few instances, Morsi's opponents also clashed with protesters.

In one of the marches blocking Salah Salem Street, protesters carried signs reading, “We will come back and the dogs will leave.” Protesters also camped around the Fatah Mosque in Ramses Square, blocking the main street.

The state-run Middle East News Agency reported that the army deployed forces around the Media Production City, where most privately-owned satellite channels are based, after Morsi supporters threatened to storm it. Islamists have slammed the coverage of Morsi’s ouster provided by these channels for siding with the Armed Forces.
